Gary Loftis, PE

Gary Loftis is a registered professional electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience specializing in marina and waterfront electrical design nationwide. As a principal member and senior electrical engineer at Maffett Loftis, he brings a wealth of expertise in electrical safety, code compliance, and practical, cost-effective design solutions.

Gary is a principal member of Code Making Panel 07 of the National Electrical Code (NEC), which sets the standards for electrical safety in marinas and floating structures. His deep understanding of electrical systems ensures that regulations are not only effective and safe but also economically viable.

A 1992 graduate of Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Gary is highly credentialed in his field. He is a certified Deputy Electrical Inspector with the State of Tennessee and an active member of several industry organizations, including:

  • International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI) – Former President of the Tennessee Chapter

  • National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

  • Tennessee and Kentucky Marina Associations (TMA, KMA)

  • American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) – Certified in Marine Electrical Systems

 

Beyond his engineering work, Gary serves as an expert witness for the marina industry and is a sought-after speaker at marina trade shows, training sessions, and conferences nationwide. He is currently licensed in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan, North Dakota, Texas, Arizona, California, and Maine.

With a strong focus on electrical safety and efficiency, Gary is dedicated to designing electrical systems that are code-compliant, practical, and cost-effective to ensure the highest standards are delivered for projects across the country.
